Pte Alexander Sharp

Alex Sharp was brought by his Granny Mrs McDougall and enlisted at the outbreak of war, prior to that he has worked as an oncostman down the pit. Initially he joined the Lovat Scouts, he is also recorded as having served with the Seaforth Highlanders and the Gordon Highlanders, and at some time in the war was wounded. It is with the Gordon Highlanders that he met his death on 20th April,1917 during the battle of Arras.
I am very grateful to site member Max for sending me the photos below,he bought thefrom a member of the family a number of years ago along with the 'dead man's penny'.There is some dubiety as to which one is Alex however I would sway toward the first photo as the second man appears to have RFA on his shoulder indicating the Artillery
